Wood decks look great for about 2 years. Then the real work starts. Staining every couple years. Replacing warped boards. Dealing with splinters when the kids run barefoot. One family in Etobicoke told us they spent over $3,000 in maintenance on their wood deck in just 5 years.
PVC decks are different. No staining. No sealing. No rotting or splintering. They don’t fade in our bright Toronto summers, and they don’t crack during those brutal -20°C winter nights. You basically install them and forget about them.
Here’s what you actually get with a quality PVC deck:
✔ Zero maintainence – just occasional cleaning with soap and water
✔ Won’t splinter, crack, or warp even after 20+ years
✔ Stays cool underfoot even in July heat
✔ Resists stains from BBQ sauce, wine, or whatever your kids spill
✔ Looks brand new year after year
✔ Manufacturer warranty coverage of 35-50 years depending on brand
✔ 2-year labor warranty from Decksforlife on every installation
We install PVC decks from Scarborough to Burlington, and homeowners keep telling us the same thing – they wish they’d done it sooner.
Timbertech / Azek PVC Decking
As certified Timbertech installers in Toronto, we’ve probably built more Timbertech decks than any other PVC deck installers in the GTA. Timbertech merged with Azek a few years back, so you’re getting the best of both brands. Their PVC decking comes in tons of colors that actually look like real wood grain – not that fake plastic look from the early 2000s.
The Azek line is pure PVC, meaning its completely waterproof. We’ve installed these on rooftop decks in downtown Toronto where water exposure is constant. No issues. Timbertech offers different collections depending on your budget, but even their entry level stuff outperforms most wood decks.
Fiberon PVC Decks
We’re also Fiberon certified installers, which means we’ve been trained on their specific installation methods. Fiberon makes some of the most scratch-resistant PVC decking available. If you’ve got dogs (or kids who drag patio furniture around), this matters.
Their Paramount line is popular with our Vaughan and Richmond Hill clients who want that high-end look. The color selection is really good – we’re talking rich browns, grays, even exotic wood looks that don’t cost exotic wood prices.
Woodbridge PVC Decking
Woodbridge PVC is the choice when you want quality without the premium price tag. Don’t get us wrong – this stuff is still way better than wood. It’s just priced more competitively than Timbertech or Fiberon. We install a lot of Woodbridge decks in Brampton, Mississauga, and other areas where homeowners want the PVC benefits but have a tighter budget.
Citadel PVC Decking
Citadel is newer to the market but their quality is solid. We started installing these about 3 years ago and haven’t had a single callback for defects. Good color options and they handle Toronto weather really well. Another great option for homeowners who want maintainence-free decking without breaking the bank.
We’re a local deck company based right here in the GTA, and we service the entire Toronto area. That means whether you’re in a North York townhouse, an Oakville detached home, or a Markham property with a pool, we’ve probably worked on a similar project nearby.
Some of the areas where we build PVC decks regularly:
✔ Toronto:North York, Scarborough, Etobicoke, East York, York, Downtown Toronto
✔ Mississauga: Port Credit, Streetsville, Meadowvale, Erin Mills
✔ Brampton: All neighborhoods
✔ Vaughan: Woodbridge, Thornhill, Maple
✔ Richmond Hill & Markham: Full coverage
✔ Oakville & Burlington: Complete service area
Every area has it’s own building codes and permit requirements. We handle all that paperwork for you because honestly, dealing with Toronto building permits is not fun.
This is the question everyone wants answered upfront. Problem is, every deck is different. A 200 sq ft second story deck in North York costs way different than a 600 sq ft ground level deck with built-in benches in Oakville.
Here’s some general pricing to give you an idea:
- Basic PVC deck (Woodbridge or Citadel): $45-60 per square foot installed
- Mid-range PVC deck (Fiberon or Timbertech): $55-75 per square foot installed
- Premium PVC deck (Azek Vintage and Fiberon Paramount): $70-90 per square foot installed
These prices include proper framing, deck boards, hidden fasteners, basic railings, and installation. Things that cost extra: stairs, multiple levels, built-in features, lighting, custom railings, or if we need to remove an old deck first.
Every PVC deck we install comes with our 2-year labor warranty, and the PVC decking materials carry manufacturer warranties ranging from 35 to 50 years depending on the brand you choose. That’s real protection for your investment.
Yeah, PVC decks cost more than wood upfront. But do the math over 20 years when you factor in zero maintainence, no replacement boards, no refinishing every 2-3 years. PVC actually saves you money in the long run.

Frequently Asked Questions About PVC Decks
Do PVC Decks Get Hot in the Sun?
This is probably the #1 concern people have. Good news – modern PVC decking has come a long way. Brands like Timbertech and Fiberon have heat-reduction technology that keeps them cooler than first-generation composites. They do get warmer than wood, but not unbearable. Lighter colors stay cooler than darker ones if this is a big concern for you.
Can You Install PVC Decks in Winter?
Technically yes, but we don’t recommend it. PVC expands and contracts with temperature changes. Installing in winter when materials are contracted can cause issues when summer heat arrives. We typically build PVC decks from late April through October in Toronto.
How Long Do PVC Decks Actually Last?
The manufacturer warranties range from 35 to 50 years depending on which brand you choose, and we’re seeing decks from the early 2000s still looking good. Realistically, a properly installed PVC deck should last 30+ years with basically zero maintainence. Compare that to wood which needs replacing every 15-20 years even with regular maintenance. Plus, we provide a 2-year warranty on all our labor, so you know the installation is done right.
What About Mold and Mildew?
PVC doesn’t absorb moisture, so mold and mildew can’t get inside the boards like they do with wood. You might get some surface growth if your deck is constantly shaded (like under big trees), but it washes off easy with deck cleaner. Nothing like the black mold you see eating through wood decks.
